Beta 0.1 — a short, honest summary.
When you create an account, we store your email, display name, language and sign-in information needed to run your account.
We store the Coffee Moments you save, including ratings, notes, coffee and brew details, favorites and places. Bean Memoir uses your logged history to calculate Coffee DNA, preferences and personal Match scores.
When you take or choose a photo, it is first resized and re-encoded in your browser; re-encoding removes the photo's embedded metadata from the copy we use. To read a coffee bag, that processed image is sent to an AI vision service only for that label-reading task, which returns label details and confidence information. The scan record itself does not keep the image: we store the extracted fields, scan result and your corrections. An optional extra photo used only to read more label details is not saved. If you save the coffee to your journal while signed in, the processed front bag photo is saved with that Coffee Moment (as are photos you add when logging a café visit). Saved photos are kept in private storage for your account and shown to you using a time-limited link. If a saved photo belongs to a scanned coffee, it may also appear as that coffee's picture in the Explore catalog for other signed-in users, without your name, account or location. You can remove a saved photo by deleting its Coffee Moment or your account.
Bean Memoir may use AI-assisted web search to find supplemental coffee information. We store accepted enrichment, its sources and provenance with the coffee record. Online suggestions do not silently replace the bag details or edits you provide.
Location is optional and only used if you choose it and allow permission. In that case we may save coordinates, accuracy and capture time from your device. We may also read location and time metadata from a photo before it is re-encoded, let you choose between sources when they differ, and save only the source you select with the place. Location is never shown in Explore.
We record basic product events, such as whether a save or scan succeeded, to understand the beta. These events should not contain personal journal text. Feedback you submit is stored with your account. Authorized Bean Memoir admins can access account profiles, feedback and event records, and view aggregated beta statistics for support and improvement.
Demo mode keeps its sample journal and diagnostic event counts in your browser and does not save them to our servers. When you sign in, your account, journal, scans, feedback and basic product events are saved so they can be available with your account.
We use this information to operate, secure and improve the beta, including label reading, sourced enrichment and personalized features. AI and web services receive only the information needed for those tasks. Bean Memoir has no advertising and does not sell personal data.
You can remove individual Coffee Moments and their stored photos, or permanently delete your account and beta data from Settings. Account deletion removes your private stored photos and account records. Demo data can be cleared from Settings in that browser.
This is a small, experimental beta. Features may change, data may be reset between beta versions and availability is not guaranteed. We will try to tell testers before a planned reset.
